Finite Element Analysis of the Scheme Comparison of Chao-Xiao Tunnel

According to the requirement of the planar line, the tunnel of Chongqing railway No 1 line from Chao Tian Men to Xiao Shi Zi(called Chao-Xiao tunnel for short) needs to pass across the upside of the Chao-Qian tunnel that has been constructed before. The design institute provides two plans to make sure the effective work of the load traffic and Chao-Qian tunnel during the construction of the Chao-Xiao tunnel. One plan is to adopt the multi-arch method, and the other is the single arch. The three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element method is used to forecast the displacement effects produced by those two plans for controlling the deformation of the ground surface and Chao-Qian Tunnel. The result demonstrates that the plan of multi-arch is superior to the plan of single arch, and the multi-arch method can satisfy the capacity and crack requirement of Chao-Xiao and Chao-Qian tunnels. This conclusion provides guidance for the successful execution of the project of Chao-Xiao tunnel.
