Steady State Model of Horizontal Well Wellbore and Gas Reservoir Coupling

The flow regime of fluid in the horizontal wellbore is the variable mass flow, how to accurately describe the influence of wellbore surface inflow from the reservoir on the production performance of horizontal wells are the research focus of horizontal well reservoir engineering. In this paper, a single-phase, steady-state, wellbore and gas reservoir coupled model is established and a pressure drop equation describing the gas flow in the horizontal wellbore is derived, which considered the friction pressure drop, acceleration pressure drop and the impact of wellbore surface inflow and has the square form of pressure. Using this model, a certain horizontal gas well’s production parameter is calculated to study the gas flow rate and pressure distribution along the wellbore, and to discuss the impact of wellbore diameter and other factors on horizontal well deliverability. The model can be a useful tool for horizontal well reservoir engineering studies.
