Experimental study of aprotinin pretreatment protecting the liver from ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

Objective To investigate the effect of aprotinin pretreatment on the ischemia reperfusion injury in the liver of rats and to probe the probable mechanism of the effect.Methods Eighty adult SD rats were randomized into two groups:normal saline pretreatment group(A 1) and aprotinin pretreatment group(A 2).After the model of ischemia/reperfusion in the liver was established, the changes of liver function related enzymes, malondialdehyde(MDA) and morphologic changes in the liver tissue were observed.Results The activities of serum ALT,AST increased in different extent after ischemia and multiplied after blood reperfusion both in GroupA 1 and GroupA 2, the values of ALT and AST activities in GroupA 1 was higher than that in GroupA 2.After ischemia and reperfusion, MDA content increased significantly in liver tissue both in GroupA 1 and GroupA 2 and the changes in Group A 1 showed more intense than that in Group A 2.The morphologic changes of liver tissue showed more severe in GroupA 1 than that in Group A 2 either under the optical microscope or under the electronic microscope.Conclusion With the aprotinin pretreatment, liver tissue was protected effectly from ischemia reperfusion injury.
