Effect of intensive follow-up in patient with diabetes

Objective To assess the effect of intensive follow-up on self-management ability and disease control in patient with diabetes.Methods Sixty-five diabetes who received diabetic education were randomized into control group(group A) and intensive follow-up group(group B).Subjects of group B were regularly followed up with telephone for six months,while group A without.Results Six months after discharge,group B had better self-management,blood glucose,glycated hemoglobin Alc than those of Group A(P0.05).The levels of fasting blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin Alc of group B were significantly lower than those of group A.Conclusion Regularly intensive follow-up can significantly improve the self-management ability,blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin Alc control in patients with diabetes.But the effects on blood pressure and body weight are limited.
