Capacitor current compensating approach for current differential protection of ultra-high voltage transmission line

The shunt reactors which are installed on the ultrahigh voltage transmission lines can properly compensate distributed capacitive current and reduce differential current.Whereas,it can not guarantee correct trip of the current differential protection for outside faults.Based on traditional phase current differential protection principles,a novel compensating scheme is proposed in this paper.Simulation results with ATP show that the proposed scheme is with high reliability.
