Static voltage stability margin calculation based on genetic/tabu search hybrid algorithm

A novel method of static voltage stability margin calculation based on genetic/Tabu search hybrid algorithm is presented in the paper.The method combines the genetic algorithm with a strong global search capabilities and the Tabu search algorithm with a strong local search capabilities.With improved continuation power flow calculation,the maximum static voltage stability margin of power system can be quickly and accurately achieved by the hybrid algorithm,and the separateness using defects of the genetic algorithm and the Tabu search algorithm can also be overcomed.The IEEE 14-bus system is simulated with the hybrid algorithm,results show that the method is feasible and effective.
