Voltage stability margin based reactive power optimization method

In order to obtain the optimal reactive power configuration scheme under a suitable voltage profile according to a target value of voltage stability margin,the cost that integrates reactive equipments investment with active power loss is selected as objective function for reactive power optimization in this paper.Two sets of constraints concerning voltage profile and voltage stability are simultaneously considered to investigate the reactive power planning problems.The voltage stability constraint is analyzed with voltage stability margin sensitivity,thereby the number of equality and inequality constraints and variables is avoided to increase.In the optimization process,first,the critical voltage point and the voltage stability margin sensitivity are calculated using continuation power flow,then the buses for reactive compensation are found out;second,the reactive compensation capacity is obtained using interior-point linear programming algorithm.Power system test results verify that the reactive power optimization method is simple,practical and available.
