Influence of Nonlinearity on Earthquake Reaction of Large-span Arch Bridge

Xia Xiushen,Chen Xingchong,Zhang Yongliang,Wang Changfeng
Taking the large-span steel box arch bridge inⅧearthquake area on Jinghu Express Railway as the engineering background, the article studies the influence of nonlinearity on the earthquake reaction. The result makes clearly that the influence of geometrical nonlinearity is very small, which can not take into account during the analysis of earthquake reaction. The nonlinear performance of material efficiently decreases the earthquake action borne by the arch section. Therefore,it is suggested that the anti-earthquake capability of the primary and secondary supporting members should be properly graduated when the anti-earthquake design of the large-span arch bridge so as efficiently to utilize the nonlinear consumption of secondary member to lighten the earthquake action borne by the primary supporting member.
