Institutional Innovation and City Vitality: A Case Study of Building Guangzhou into an Innovative City of China

Institutional innovation is a powerful impetus for social progress as well as the prerequisite and important guarantee for city vitality. Thanks to the reform and opening-up policy, Guangzhou has continuously enhanced its economic power and the question now is how to maintain Guangzhou’s vigor to become the nation’s innovative city and to keep its pace with advanced cities worldwide. Thus, new strategies for institutional innovation should be explored according to the new trend and requirement of modern city innovation development.
