The application of trams is becoming more and more common. However, trams facing many challenges in our country, such as unclear functional target, blind planning and construction, low operational efficiency, incomplete approval systems, and different technical standards. This paper mainly focuses on how to develop trams in high-quality. Through comprehensive summarization and deep reflection on the development of Trams in China, it is proposed that firstly we should consider the urban traffic from the overall situation and clarify the functional target of the trams. Secondly, basing on the traffic demand and operational benefits, to plan and build the Tram. Thirdly, integrating the urban landscape and environmental design into planning, which can effectively improve the service quality. Finally, improving the approval system and technical standards to strengthen the regulation of Trams. In future, we can also realize the "Tram" to "intelligence Tram", which can promote the sustainable development of Trams.
