Dynamic Properties of Lime-expansive Soil

This paper presents an experimental research on the dynamic strain and strength of two different kinds of Limeexpansive soil through modeling stressed conditions of railway subgrade under the load of a moving train by means of a triaxial apparatus.The experimental results show that under the load the dynamic stress-strain of the Lime-expansive soil meets the hyperbolic relation quite well, the dynamic elastic modulue and strength of Lime-expansive soil increase in a mvch higher degree compared with the corresponding values of the original soil and both the dynamic elastic modulue and strength of the lime soil increase with the increase of the mixture amount of Lime (m).However, when m exceeds 8% it will change at a low speed, so it is suitable when m=8-ll% while the best scheme is m=8%.The maximum dynamic elastic modulus of the lime soil E_(dmax) is related to the properties of the original soil and the relationship between it and the side pressure σ_(3c) can be expressed by the empirical formula.
