Shaking table testing of shock insulation by Soft soil-hinged pier system

Shaking table model tests of shock insulation by soft soil-hinged pier system are designed and carried out.By the testing,the effects of this new system on the earthquake response of structure were analyzed.The sponge and the pile foundation with hinges on both ends were adopted in this test to imitate the soft soil with small shear modulus.The earthquake reaction of Soil-Structure-Interaction system was calculated by a program of modal analysis method.The results show that the natural period of the structure on rigid foundation is much longer than that on soft soil founda-tion,and that the damping is much larger too.The earthquake response of the structure is reduced and the ratio reach-es 40%.It means that the soft soil foundation has the impact on shock absorption and isolation.The soft soil-hinged pier system is the development and application of the soil-foundation-structure interaction.
