Urban haze control:taking the Pearl River Delta area for Example

TAN Ming-hua
The actively growing regional economy has been key cause for the urban haze over the Pearl River Delta Area.In the context of developed market economy in this region, policies that influence people's economic behaviors would be more effective than pure technological solutions.Potential solutions include emphasizing government's responsibility to correct market adjustment, increasing RD expenditure on atmospheric haze, utilizing taxation system, promoting subsidiary for using low-discharge technology, exploring marketization of discharge quota,as well as coordinating regional atmospheric haze control.
