The investment environment of the main citiesalongside the Yangtze and the direction and relevant policies of iudustrial expansion from Shanghai

The Yangtze basin is currently the most important development zone in China following the opening up of the Yangtze in the 1990' s. In order to get a better understanding of the investment environment of the areas alongside the Yangtze and, in coherence with the restructuring of industries in Shanghai , to explore the possibilities of transferring and expanding industries in other areas alongside the Yangtze from Shanghai, with a weighted - grade measurement method, using an assessing system composed of nine indices selected following the advice from experts in the area. An assessment of the overall investment environment and the suitability of key industries in fifteen major cities alongside the Yangtze has been made in this analysis. Based on this, several suggestions towards the direction and relevant policies of industrial expansion from Shanghai alongside the Yangtze have been put forward.
