XIONG Ju-xin, FENG Shi-ting, SHEN Bing-qi. Department of Radiology, The Shilong People’s Hospital of Dongguan City, Donguan 523320, China
Objective To evaluate the possibility of multi-detector row CT myelography (CTM) for diagnosis of nerve rootlet avulsion in brachial plexus injury. Methods Eight patients with brachial plexus injury were examined by multi-detector row CT myelography. The curve planar reconstruction was performed to obtained the coronal and axial images. CTM findings were compared with surgical results. Results CTM demonstrated the intradural ventral and dorsal nerve root clearly. The main signs of brachial plexus preganglionic injury included: the disappearance of nerve rootlet, traumatic meningocele, displacement of spinal cord. The CTM findings were consistent with surgical results. Conclusion The information by CTM can assess the rootlets of the brachial plexus and provide valuable data for diagnosing the rootlet avulsion of brachial plexus injury.
