A Study on the Prediction Heterosis of Keng Rice Using Peroxidase Isozyme

Meng Xiangzhen Wang Yuzhen (Scientific Research Institute of Hebei, Tanghai, China)  
It is indicated that through five years study (1985~1990), the peroxidase isozyme in the functional leaves of Keng Rice is stable from three leaves stage to heading stage and can be used as the biochemical target for heterosis prediction of Keng Rice, degree of accuracy is approximately 85%. According to the experimental results in the study, it is regarded to be more dependable and easier to operate using the method combining measurement peroxidase isozyme with "homogenate complementation" for prediction of heterosis of Keng Rice. On the basis of prcdiction results, breeder can purposefully make crossing combination, which will speed up the selection of Keng Hybrid Rice.
