The surface wax was examination with a scanning electron microscope at different stages of brown core of ya pear fruits. Development of the disease was accompanied by changes in the appearance and quantity of surface wax. The lenticel and epidermis of the healthy fruits were covered with intact and thick wax. The surface wax of the sick fruits decreased, the lenticel cells were naked and the epidermic groove became wide and long. The relationship between changes of epicuticular wax and development of brown core was discussed.
