The Effect 0f Using Nitrogen Fertilizer on the Growth and Development of Rice after Wheat in Different Stages

The result of pot incubation experiment stated that the effect of using nitrogen fertilizer in different stages was significant to the growth, the deve1oPment and the yield of rice after wheat. The tillers were mor, the leaf area was larger, the ntirnber of ear and grain were bigger, the yield of rice was higher when fertiliZed during rice transplanting to the beginning of ear differentiation than during any other Peri0ds- Moreovcr, the earlier fertilized the better its effect was. The number of ear and floret would be much tO0 many if fertilized inundiately after ear differentiation, which resulted in the sharP reduce of the setting Percentage, the grain weight and the rice yield. And this made the upper three leavs' area much too larger, the basal panel length 1onger and the plant liable to ledging in anaphase. Although it couldn' t increase the number of ear and floret when fertilized in the boting stage, it could reduce the deterioration of floret,so the yield would be higher than that ferti1ized after ear differentiation.The yield of rice could n0 increase when fertilized after heading, furthermore it also resulted in delayed ripping. According to the result of the exPeriment, the authOrs reached the fOllowing conclusion that the nitrogen fertilizer f0r rice after wheat should be used after transplanting with more nitrogen and before the boting stage with less nitrogen, that is to say, more nitrOgen fertilizer 1n the former and 1ess in the latter.
