The effect of water stress on ultra structure of plasmolemma of different drought-resistant wheat

The plasmolemma of the cells of wheat cultivars with different drought resistance changed differently under water stress. After the stress of 120 hours, the plasmolemma of the cells of Jimai 36(sensitive) was “endocytic”, which was a lot of bubbles taking place at the inside of the plasmolemma; on the contrary, after the stress of 120 hours, the plasmolemma of the cells of Jinmai 33(resistant) was “exocytic”, which was a lot of bubbles taking place at the outside of the plasmolemma. With the longer duration of water stress and more serious the plasmolysis, more bubbles of the “exocytosis” would increase. After rewatering, the ultrastructure of mesophyll cells recovered to some degree, and the recovery of Jinmai 33 were more rapid than that of Jimai 36.
