Correlative analysis of resistance-related factors in apple fruits to apple fruit ring rot disease

Resistance-related factors of apple fruit to apple fruit ring rot disease were analyzed. The results revealed that key development stages for the disease were the young stage, rapid growing stage and premature stage of fruit, among which young fruit stage was the most easily affected. Lentice density, sugar content, POD activity in apple fruit and the disease index in apple trunk were screened as positive correlated factors for apple fruit ring rot disease, and phenol content, acidity and calcium content in fruit were minus correlated factors. Lentice density in apple fruit was highly correlated to the disease development in this experiment,but disease index in apple trunk and POD activity had shown no significance to it. Fruit acid in rapid growing stage and phenol content in the three stages were highly correlated to the disease resitance,indicating that phenol was protective factors against the pathogen penetration and extension but the acid substance only protected the fruit from pathogen′s extension in fruit. Calcium content in young fruit stage was significantly correlated to the resistance to the apple fruit ring rot showing that it was possible to increase the resistance of the apple fruit by increasing the calcium content in the young apple fruit.
