Progress on variety identification of crop using DNA fingerprinting

The basic principle,traits and its application of variety identification using DNA fingerprinting technology are put forword, such as RFLP,RAPD,AFLP,SSR,ISSR and STS ect. Compared with methods of morphological and isozyme identification, DNA fingerprinting has high accuracy and reliability because vatiety identification is evaluated through testing DNAs using it. Furthermore, the method can be employed in any season and have an advantage in identifying varieties that can not be evaluated by morphologic markers. DNA fingerprinting technology is simple,quick and beneficial to automation, so it shows the wide future application in variety identification.
