Simple sequence repeat (SSR) analysis and identify of different cultivars in Populus L.

Simple sequence repeat(SSR) was used to determine the genomic DNA variations and genetic relationships in Populus L.. 10 cultivars were used in SSR analysis. A total of 10 SSR primers which were polymorphic and informative were selected to determine the genetic diversity and genetic relationships. 122 DNA bands were amplified, 114 of which were polymorphic(93.44%). The average number of DNA bands which amplified by each primer was 12.2. DNA profiles based on SSR markers had revealed potential diagnostic fingerprints for various individual cultivars. A tree diagram was constructed by using UPGMA algorithm. The 10 cultivars were classified into 3 groups.
