Bearing behavior of large-diameter and super-long pile

Based on the data of a pile foundation project for a storage tank named LNG in Tianjin,FLCA3 Dwas used to analysis bearing behavior of large diameter and super long pile.The results show that the settlement curve of large diameter and super long piles is more gradual curve,with no obvious steep fall.Since the axial force of pile varies along pile length,maximum at the pile head and minimum at the pile toe,the attenuation rate of speed reflects the size of the pile side friction.The frictional resistance which comes from the upper soil layer of the pile body plays earlier than that from the lower,while the pile side friction plays earlier than the bottom one.The pile body compression is the main cause of the settlement of pile top.
