Effects of enteral nutrition in the treatment of gastroparesis

Objectives:To explore the effectiveness of enteral nutrition in the treatment of gastroparesis. Methods:The enteral nutrition preparation was infused to duodenum or jejunum through feeding tube.The blood glucose,the function of liver and kidney,electrolyte,blood gas analysis and nutritional status were observed. Results:All the 8 patients recovered with medical therapy and were discharged.The function of gastric stump emptying recovered faster than the non EN patients,and the infective complications were not found.The plasma glucose,function of liver and kidney,blood gas analysis and electrolyte did not change.The weight,serum albumin and nitriogen balance were increased. Conclusions:This method of enteral nutrition is effective for improving the function of gastric stump emptying and the nutritional status in the patients of gastroparesis.
