Defining the Network Hinterland of Small and Medium-Sized Cities Based on an Analytical Method of Enterprise Transaction Network——The Case Study of Lingyuan

By combining theoretical reasoning and empirical analysis based on data of inter-city business trading volume,in particular those for enterprises above designated size and those from the trading network of the agricultural product wholesale market in Lingyuan,the paper describes the characteristics of transaction flow,direction,trading network and network hinterland of different industries in Lingyuan and divide the city's industrial hinterland according to transaction networks and the strength and distribution of the network.By analyzing the transaction capital and its networks,this paper reveals the city's network connection both physically and virtually.The research shows that Lingyuan's network hinterland exhibits features of hierarchy,cross-jurisdictional spatiality,geographical proximity of interregional traffic and high level of urban agglomeration.In terms of industrial impact,the upstream raw material supply network and downstream product sales network are inconsistent in different industries with both overlaps and differences.
