Protecting the Water Environment in the Rural Areas South of the Yangtze River

Water is the soul of the areas south of the Yangtze River and the lifeblood of its regional development. During the fast urbanization process, the rural areas south of the Yangtze River is facing with some serious water environment issues, such as increasingly severe water pollution, overexploitation of the underground water and disruption of the landscaping structure. These issues have threatened farm product safety, drinking water quality, biodiversity, sustained development of the economy, preservation of the landscape, local culture extension and so on. In order to restore the harmonious environment in the areas south of the Yangtze River, it is essential to reinforce the research work and design a scientific development plan.
