Effects on relative water content,membrane permeability,proline content and chlorophyll content of Vetiveria zizanioides under high temperature stress

The variation patterns of relative water content,membrane permeability,proline content and chlorophyll content in vetiver grass under high temperature stress were studied.The results indicated that the membrane permeability and proline content were gradually increased at 25 ℃ to 40 ℃ for 24 hours,on the contrast,the relative water content and chlorophyll content decreased gradually,but the variation range was not wide.However,the variation was great while treated under the high temperature more than 40 ℃.Compared with those under the normal temperature 25 ℃,the membrane permeability and proline content increased by 27.5% and 86.0% on average respectively when the temperature increased every 5℃.In consequence,the relative water content and the chlorophyll content decreased by 5.5% and 10.1% respectively.The optical temperature for vetiver grass growth was ranged from 25 ℃ to 35 ℃,and the critical temperature was 45 ℃,the fatal temperature was 55 ℃.
