Influence of Chitosan on Performance,Nutrient Utilization and Blood Biochemical Parameters in Goose

Wang Run-lian,Chang Bin,Du Bing-wang,et al(Department of Animal Science,Guangdong Ocean University,Zhanjiang 524088)
The experiment was aimed to study the effects of chitosan on performance and nutrient utilization in goose.120 twenty-eight-day-old geese were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 replicates, each replicate with 6 birds.Control group was fed with the basal diets, while the experimental groups were fed with the basal diet added with 0.05,0.10,and 0.15% of chitosan for 42 days. Results showed that the addition of 0.05%~0.15% chitosan had no influence on goose growth and feed utilization(P0.05),but the fat utilization was significantly(P0.05) impaired. The digestion of fibre was not affected(P0.05),while dry matter digestibility decreased(P0.05) by chitosan supplementation.Addition of chitosan showed the positive effect on nitrogen utilization. The addition of 0.10% chitosan significantly lessened the contents of serum cholesterol and triglyceride.
