Critical Speed Analysis on Vehicle Turbocharger with Ball Bearings

The calculation and analysis methods of the critical speed for vehicle turbocharger were described.The critical speed was computed with two methods like Riccati transfer matrix and DyRoBeS finite element method for a vehicle turbocharger with ball bearings and was validated by the experiment.It was found by comparing the calculated results and the experimented results that the first critical speed differences between them were 5.59% and 1.42% and that the second critical speed differences between them were 2.53% and 8.4%.Besides these,The effects of bearing rigidity,bearing structure and turbine material on the critical speed were analyzed and the relative curves were acquired.
