Analysis and Improvement on the Comprehensive Performance of a Diesel Engine EGR Cooler

The flow field, temperature field and thermal load of an EGR cooler were simulated with ANSYS, and the rationality and accuracy of simulation results were verified by experiment. An one-dimensional modeling of diesel engine working process demonstrates that the cooling efficiency of an EGR cooler plays an important role in the working process of a diesel engine. Finally, the improvement of the cooling tube structure of an EGR cooler was made and analysis with numerical simulation on the improved structure was conducted. The results show that the cooling efficiency of the cooler increases by 5.36%. This can provide some reference for the future development of an EGR cooler.
