INVESTIGATION ON REACTIVE MILLING OF NiAl-TiC COMPOSITE

NiAl-TiC composite has been synthesized by mechanical alloying Ni, Al, Ti and C elemental powders. The reaction mechanism is attributed to two abrupt explosive reactions: Ni + Al→NiAl+ △H1 and Ti + 2C→TiC + △H2. The grain refinement of NiAl and TiC compounds and the size of powder particle upon milling time have also been researched.
