Studies on Changes of Protein Synthesis in Fat Body of Silkworm( Bombyx mori)

Protein synthesis of fat body in the middle of the 5 th instar and metamorphosis period in Bombyx mori was studied by two dimensional electrophoresis,isotope labeling radioautography and computer protein electrophoresis map analysis.The results showed that protein species,amount of secretory protein and synthesis speed in fat body of the 5 th instar reached the maximum peak and the synthesis of tissue protein also increased rapidly in this period.These results suggested the level of protein synthesis achieved the maximum in this period.After maturation of the larvae the protein species,protein amount and synthesis speed declined obviously.The above results implied that the function of the fat body was changed from protein synthesis and metabolism in larvae stage to storage during pupal metamorphosis.
