The Effect of the External Glycinebetaine on the Salt Tolerance of Mulberry Seeds and Seedlings

In order to discuss the effect of salt tolerance of the external Glycinebetaine (GB) on the mulberry seeds, this paper studied the effects of seedlings under salt stress. The results showed that the germination rate of the seeds immersed with 10 mmol/L of GB was increased, and that the cholphyll content was enhanced and proper water content was hold in the seedling leaves at the salt-stressed condition. It was also found that the free proline in the mulberry seedlings was accumulated by induction of GB to reduce the damage of salt to cell membrane and to promote the growth of the seedlings under the salt stress.
