Analysis on Major Gene and Polygene Mixed Inheritance of Cocoon Weight in the Tussah,Antheraea pernyi

Character of cocoon weight is one of key indices for breeding of the Tussah,Antheraea pernyi.In this paper,we chose 2 tussah strains,582 and Kuanqing,as parent to investigate inheritance pattern of cocoon weight,which are different significantly in cocoon weight.Combination analysis of 4 generations(P1,P2,F1,and F2) showed that 2 major genes dominate the inheritance of cocoon weight and polygene embellish it.Moreover,the inheritance pattern was different in the different sex.For female,it was fit for two equality-additive major gene plus additive-dominance polygene model.It's major gene heritability was 49.01%,and the polygene heritability was 0.53%.For male,it was fit for two equality-dominance major gene plus additive-dominance polygene model.It's major gene heritability was 24.35%,and the polygene heritability was 26.47%.The above results indicated that we should apply different schemes for selecting cocoon weight for different sex during the process of tussah breeding.For female,it should be selected at early stage,while it should be selected continuously for several generations for male.
