Selection of Resins for Adsorption of Tea Polyphenols

Xu Xiangqun, Chen Ruifeng, Wang Huafu(Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hangzhou 310008)  
Adsorption and desorption performances of 4 anion exchange resins and 16 macroporous polymericadsorbents to tea polyphenols were studied. Results showed that the 92─2 resin and the 92─3 resin pos-sessed a strong adsorption capacity and an excellent desorption property to tea polyphenols. Tea polyphenolcontents in the extracts of resin treatment reach as high as about 60%(control 26.6%).It is expectedthat the 92─2 resin and the 92─3 resin will be used as adsorbents for the preparation and purificationof tea polyphenol products.
