Studies on the Estimation of Egg Number and Oviposting Phase of Ceroplates japonicus Green

Analysis on the relation between the weight and size of female adults of Ceroplates japonicus and theirovipositing amounts was carride out.The egg number was closely related with the female adult weight,whichwas a simple and effective way to be used to predict the outbreak of the pest.The regression equations wereas follows:y_1=345.92+94.2x(for tea plants)and y_2=-442. 92+96.5x(for jasmine).The initial temper-ature for egg development(C)and effective accumulated tenlperature(K)were as follows:C_1=15.5℃+1.0℃,K_1=199.2(DD)and C_2=15. 0℃+0.8℃,K_2=216.44(DD).These parameters would provide anestimation of the pest population, and a prediction of the optimum time for the pest control.
