ANALYSIS OF SOME BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND NUTRIENTS IN LESPEDEZA BICOLOR AND LESPEDEZA DAURICA

Xia Yiqi Su Jiakai Xiong Deshao (Institute of Animal Husbandry Research,Beijing)  
Growth habits,aboveground biomass distribution, root biomass distribution,foliar nufrient's content and 17 amino acid's content were examined in Lespedeza bicolor and L.daurica. L.bicolor is a perennial shrub and L.daurica a perennial shrub, like herb. Both species have high percentage of hard seed;and nearly 100% was observed in the newly harvesfed seeds. Soaking with hot water or sulphurie acid and scarification can facilitate germination. Stem/ leaf ratio is 1.27 and 0.86, respectively, for L.bicolor and L.dauriea, and the foliage is mainly distributed at the upper and the middle portions of the stand. Both species have well-developed root sysfems. Roots are con-centrated in 0～20cm soil layer. The root system can reach more than 1.1m deep and the lateral roots can extend 0.9m horizontally. The values are 0.9m and 0.7m, respectively, for L.daurica. Crude protein content of the foliage in both species is around 20%.
