Effect of magnetic seed treatment on growth and saline alkali tolerance of Leymus chinensis

Seeds of Leymus chinensis were pre treated in magnetic field and the growth and saline alkali tolerance of seedlings were studied. It was found that the treatment increased the relative growth rate of seedlings by 20% and strengthened their saline alkali tolerance. Under a high saline alkali stress, the proline content and SOD activity of seedlings with the treatment appeared significantly higher than the control. It ws suggested that the option under 300 mT or 200 mT of magnetic field intensity for 10 minutes was the optimum treatment.
