Distinct comparison of morphological characteristics for several new cold resistant Vicia sativa lines

Distinctness of morphological characteristics was evaluated in Xiahe, Luqu, Tianzhu of Gansu province from 2000 to 2002. A local Vicia angustifolia commercial cultivar named 333/A, four Vicia sativa lines introduced from ICARDA and their third selective generation were included in this study. The result shows that the new lines have a significant increase of 1 000 seeds weight than the old ones (P0.01), and the average increase is about 66%. There is also a significant difference among new lines and 333/A cultivar. The 2505-3 line has earliest flowering stage compared to others. Leaf shape of 2556-3 line is elliptic, and others are bar-shaped. Seed capsule color of 2560-3 line is varied though others exhibit uniformly among individuals. The 2566 line has white flower color while others are mauve.
