The characteristics of free proline distribution in various types of salt-resistant plants

Using both field and pot experiments,the distribution characteristics of free proline in whole plants was investigated in this study using three types of salt-resistant plants(salt excluding,salt secreting and salt diluting),with the content of free proline in whole plants compared.The results showed that free proline mainly focused on the photosynthetically active and reproductive organs.Under salt stress,plants preferentially protected their photosynthesis and reproductive organs.This is an adaptive strategy to saline environments.In salt diluting plants,the content of free proline in whole plant was the lowest.In salt secreting plants,the content of free proline in whole plant lay between salt-diluting and salt excluding plants.The content of free proline in whole plant of salt excluding was higher than that of salt diluting and salt secreting plants.
