Study on thermal protective performance of outer fabrics in firefighter clothing

Thermal protective performance(TPP) of four types outer fabrics used in fire fighting clothing,which are aramid fabrics,polysulfone fabrics,flame retardant cotton fabrics and polybenzimidazole fabrics,has been comparative analyzed.The test results showed that TPP of m-aramid fibe and polysulfone fabrics were relatively high,and there was no significant difference on TPP index between Tanlon fabrics,m-aramid fiber New Star and Nomex fabrics.Flame retardant cotton fabrics with low TPP have a big weight changing during TPP tests.The TPP of all fabrics chosen in this paper enhanced with their thickness and weight increasing.
