Calculation and testing of the diameter coefficient for metal fiber and its blended yarn

Metal fiber can be used to develop special textile products for its excellent thermal conductivity,high temperature resistant and wear resistance. However,the diameter coefficient for metal fiber and its blended yarn,required for fabric designing,is absent. Therefore,a formula was deduced for calculating the diameter coefficient of metal fiber and its blended yarn. The diameter coefficient of pure metal fiber with density between 7. 3 g / cm3 to 8. 0 g / cm3,being 0. 017,was obtained by this formula. The diameter coefficients of metal fiber blended yarn with different ratios were calculated and the effect of metal fiber ratio on diameter coefficient was also discussed,which can be used as a reference for the design and development of metal fiber textile products.
