The Research of Tension Problem of Column Roots in Tapered Portal Frames with Simple Column Bases

QI Yong_sheng (Department of Civil Architecture,Changzhou Institute of Technology, Changzhou 213002)  
Technology Code of Light Steel Structure of Portal Frame(CECS 102:98) regards simple column bases as pined. This paper studies 35 examples by FEIS FEA PROGRAM written by author and proves that the rotational restraint of column base which exists in effect does not affect the intension of column root decide by the code and the method in the code is safe.
