Research on Filtering Methods for Digital Image Quality Improvement

The algorithms shown in this paper can remove the noises in the images,increase the SNR of the images,improve the clarity of an image,and can abstract the features in the images used as a pattern for object reorganization in the images by low-pass filtering.This paper first introduces mainly the mean filtering and mid-value filtering in the spatial domain,and explains the principle and applications of these types of low-pass filters in the frequency domain including Ideal low-pass filter,Butterworth low-pass filter and Gaussian filter.Finally this paper demonstrates the image processing results including image denoising and image quality improvement by low-pass filtering,and compares the merits and demerits of these methods respectively.
