Dynamic Bandwidth Distribution Algorithm of EPON and its Simulation

The present classic dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm in the Ethernet passive optical network(EPON) system is analyzed and a dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm supporting quality of service(QoS) is proposed.This algorithm which ascertains the polling cycle dynamically not only ensures the bandwidth for high priority services but also makes allowance for the reallocation of excess bandwidth.Simulation results show that the algorithm can enhance system bandwidth utilization rate and provide still more stable QoS.
