Improved Spatial Smoothing Technique Using Full Array

In the context of coherent signal source,conventional spatial smoothing methods such as forward/backward smoothing method,weighted forward/backward smoothing method can be used effectively. However,the currently known spatial smoothing algorithms not only are imperfect at low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) or when the DOAs of coherent source are near,but also reduce effective aperture of the array. Especially the number of coherent sources is large,conventional spatial smoothing methods are invalid.In view of these problems,a new method is proposed which can perform well at low SNR from near directions. Simulation results are provided to verify the superiority.
