A Method of Optimal PMU Placement Based on 0-1 Programming

The emergence of the Phasor Measurement Unit(PMU)based on the GPS can provide a reliable guarantee for the dynamic monitoring power grid.At present,it is impossible to place PMU in all the bus, taking the full grid observability of power system operation state and least number of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU)is concerned by the grid company.The paper presents a method of optimal PMU placement based on 0-1 programming,taking the full grid observability of power system operation state and least number of Phasor Measurement Units(PMU)as objective function,using the LIND which is a specialized solution for the opti- mization of the mathematical model.The effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed algorithms are illustrated with numerical simulation using IEEE 14-bus system,IEEE 39-bus system,and IEEE 57-bus system.
