Design Of Additional Damped Controller Using LMI in power System

For inter-area low-frequency oscillation in power system,a framework for wide-area damping control is built.The wide area controller design using remote signal has been suggested to improve the dynamic performance of interconnected power systems.For the time-delay feedback signal taken place during transmission, the processing process in measurement system will seriously affect power system stability.On the other hand, the robustness was neceddary to tolerate the system operating near the stability limit.In the paper,using the stability theory of time-lag system and the processing method of linear matrix inequality(LMI),the parameter design of additional damping controller is trans- formed into the problem of obtaining proper parameters to make the close-loop system with time-lag signal processing maximum delay stability.Finally,by using the LMI toolbox and genetic algorithm,the parameters of additional excitation controller are optimized.Results of dynamic simulation for a 4-machine power system verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
