Effect of multiple parental pollination on F_3 in spring wheat(T.aestivum L.)

Comparing the differences of 12 agronomic traits between parents and their F3 generation of a cross which pollinated by multiple parental mixture po llen in spring wheat ( L. aestivum L.) by the random block design. The results s howed that multiple parental pollination have an obvious active effect on most characters. The differences of C.V. averages, maximum, minimum between F3 and th eir parents and CK indicated that the genetic improvement potential and breakthr ough effects could be achieved easily in weight/plant, harvest index and weight/ 1000 grains, and larger genetic advances were presented in spikelets, weight/ste m, ear length with the controlled effects by the selection of parents. The lower improvements were performed in grain weight/ear, fertile spikelets, grains/ear. The introduction of dwarf parents and selection of lower plants in descendant g eneration should be emphasized becauce a trend to taller in plant height was fou nd in F3 generation.
