Estimation of genetic parameter for growth trait in Japanese flounder by DF-REML

Genetic parameters of body length, body depth, body weight and condition factor in Japanese flounder on 185, 235, 345 and 465 days were estimated with no duplication model of single trait by DF-REML. The results showed that the ranges of heritability on different test days were from 0.23 to 0.3, from 0.2 to 0.29, from 0.22 to 0.75 and from 0.19 to 0.53, respectively. The ratio of genetic variance in phenotypic variance was smaller, the environmental variance was bigger. Positive phenotypic correlations were found among body length, body depth and body weight (P≤0.01). The correlations were significant. Negative correlations were found between body length, body depth and condition factor. Positive correlations were found significantly between body weight and condition factor (P≤0.05). The trend of genetic correlation was the same as the phenotypic correlation.
